Jet offers a 2x42 grinder, which features an 8” disc sander My friend rick menefee is building a new grinder with a 20 inch wheel and he presently has been running a 14 inch wheel. The max rpm on the belt is 3,100 fpm
Unfortunately, it is not a variable speed model My main grinder is home built with an eighteen inch wheel The price for the jet is $469.00
The motor is 3/4 horse
Thankyou for your time, this is my conclusion for a long term review of pheer grinders Great deal, great price, great product, and a great person behind it all. Flipping the grinder onto it's side is the easy button for 90 degree angles, and particularly on an inside radius Being able to lay your blade flat on a work rest and bump it up against a contact wheel running left/right makes it much easier to grind an inside radius and keep the grinds square to the blade
You can have a welder + 2x72 grinder for under 2k Brian housewert is the creator of the plans, cut kit, and outstanding youtube video instructional series for this grinder. I pulled all the dust collector hardware, and go with the buckets when grinding steel/ti, or anything that sparks, and have a single shop vac with the 5 gal bucket/filter between the grinder and the shop vac for non sparking materials. Gosh i hate that static shock thing at the grinder!
I didn't read through all responses, but can tell you that it has a lot to do with humidity
At anything less then 45% static becomes huge issue in my shop, with any machine Either grounding as has been mentioned, or what i do is a humidifier in the shop. For grinder use, put vfd in box or good filters over the air inlet and they work just fine for a fraction of the cost Can't imagine one being easier to setup then the last chinese vfd i got
It has a very good english manual with only a few pages and only 33 (??) parameters that can be changed, and only 2 or 3 of those actually need changing.
